Pretty Summer Updo

Hey girls! Today I have a wonderful hairstyle for you to try. It’s another updo/bun! I learned about this hairstyle from a friend from church. Her hair was absolutely gorgeous one Sunday, and I asked her how she did it. When I tried it on my own hair, I was very pleased with the results.

This is a great hairstyle for girls who have a hard time getting their updos to stay up. Aka thick, long, straight hair like mine. :) But I’m pretty sure it would work for any hair type. These pictures were from my first attempt.

Here’s how to do it:

(1) put your hair in a ponytail about halfway down your head.

(2) take a small section of hair with your right hand, twirling it around two fingers of your left hand. Pin the base of the little coil around your ponytail with bobby pins. I’ve found that using 2 criss-crossed pins holds it best. Continue to twirl and pin sections of hair around your ponytail (I coiled my hair into about 8-12 sections).

(3) fuss with it a bit until it suits you. :) Don’t be worried by how messy it may look. Simply use a few more pins to secure any loose strands or pieces of hair that stick out. I think this hairstyle simply begs for a flower, so you might consider adding one when you’re finished. :)

The beauty of this hairstyle is that it will stay ALL. DAY. LONG. because you pinned your hair up in sections instead of one big piece. If you decide to give it a try, tell me what you think! :)

Have a lovely day!

Heather, Josh, and George Come to Visit

I am terribly late in posting these pictures, but here they are! Better late than never, right? ;)

We really enjoyed having Mom’s cousin, Heather, and her family come for a visit. We got to meet the newest addition, George, for the first time. WHAT a cutie pie! :) Oh, goodness. He is such a sweet little guy.

We went shopping, had a movie night, played games, and did some other fun things, including:

Happenings at Home

Hello friends!

So the last time I blogged about “happenings” I had just finished finals and Wesley was preparing to leave for Iowa for his summer internship. Wesley arrived safely and has been enjoying his new position at a web design company. Needless to say, though, he is very much missed around here.

I had a wonderful break, despite having to get my wisdom teeth out. Though painful, having a minor surgery does not come without its benefits, including lots of movies and chocolate ice cream. :D I was happy to discover some pictures on Mom’s phone from these past few weeks. Simple happenings as they are, it’s fun to document what we’ve been up to, so here they are! :)

Before Wesley left for his internship two weeks ago, we made him a nice dinner and his favorite dessert: fresh strawberry pie with homemade ice cream!

Playing Horse-opoly. A perfect thing to do on one of those hot, lazy afternoons!

Jonathan finishing a *huge* pile of watermelon.

Well, okay. He just scooped out the extra melon in the rinds, but it was still a lot of fruit! One of my very favorite summer treats is a crisp, juicy watermelon. YUM!

While we’re on the subject of food, one afternoon I came downstairs and was greeted by a heavenly scent from the kitchen. Lo and behold Austin had made a batch of soft, pillowy, lemon cookies for us! I was very impressed. Boy were they tasty!

And yes, those blurry, mischievous fingers in the corner of this picture are Jonathan’s! :D Ah, boys and cookies. You just can’t separate the two.

Playing frisbee with Greta…I loved how this picture turned out! ;)

Last week we had some family come down and visit, so I’ll be posting on that soon!
