Hello folks! It’s a hot Saturday afternoon, and I am blogging blissfully today because I’m done with the semester! This past week was a bit crazier than normal with finals, and I am glad to be finished. More of that in a bit.
The biggest news around here is bittersweet. Wesley is taking an opportunity for a User Experience internship this summer. You can read more about it here. He will be leaving this Monday. I am very excited and happy for him, yet it will be sad for all of us. We will miss him terribly. We would appreciate your prayers.
So in a little re-cap over this past month, here are a few highlights: we ran a family 5k at the beginning of May, and believe-it-or-not, it actually snowed that weekend. Snow in Missouri in May is *pretty rare*. A friend took this family picture for us:
Daddy and Jonathan finishing strong.
Mom and I placed in our age divisions, and we got pool passes for the summer!
Austin and Jonathan have been playing in the pond a lot lately. They even swam in it….that is, until we found a honkin’ huge snapping turtle coming out of it. That was the end of pond swimming – and Mr. Turtle, but I’ll spare you the gruesome details.
These guys are done with school, too, so it’s nice to share our break together.
I am joining a Medical Explorers program over the summer, and yesterday I wore scrubs for the first time! I was pretty excited. :) I am looking forward to being a part of it.
It has been a great semester. From dissecting cats to learning how our bodies handle different foods to spending time with friends over coffee to hours of studying and so much in between, it’s been a wonderful experience. I have come to appreciate my home and family so much more, and I am grateful for their support. Although my plan is to pursue a nursing degree, I was reminded again this week that I need to be holding this plan of mine gently and with open hands, trusting in God’s good and perfect will for my life. We make plans, but He directs our steps.
So after finals, I have been applying myself to various activities that do not require much brain power. :) I re-organized my terribly unorganized closet and wardrobe, baked and cooked to my heart’s content, worked on sewing projects, and other pleasant things. In two weeks, I will be starting two summer classes. Until then, though, it will be great not needing to think about papers, assignments, deadlines, etc.
That’s pretty much all for now. I hope y’all are having a wonderful weekend, and thank you for dropping by the bungalow! :)
